Getting to Know Your Crystals: Garnet

About the Stone

The birthstone associated with January is Garnet, a gemstone that comes in a variety of colors and is found all over the world. Personally, I went years thinking there was only one color of Garnet - that deep red almost black color that many of us are accustomed to seeing. It was only within the last two years I finally saw my very first green Garnet and I was astonished at its beauty. This stone can also be yellow, brown, gold, or orange. Each color has slightly different healing properties, but for the most part, they provide the same basic aid in physical, emotional, and chakra care.

This stone is associated with the Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral, and Base Chakras. It has the ability to re-energize and purify all chakras and is a very useful stone in reiki work. Although it is more widely recognized for its ability to promote passion and love, it also can be utilized as a lucky charm in business endeavors as it easily attracts success.

Garnet in Jewelry

As an amulet, Garnet was often worn throughout history as protection against poisons and toxins.

As a talisman, this stone is best used when needing to keep focused on goals, as it will aid on keeping one on course and free of distractions
